Life Insurance and the Wollongong Tragedy
There have been several disheartening events in the media this month that have prompted me to comment on the importance of life insurance.
Earlier this month, there was one significant event that touched the nation.
This was when a father of three drowned whilst jumping into rough water conditions to help save a man and his children who were struggling to get to shore. The father of three did not hesitate for a second and did what he could to assist the family in need but unfortunately drowned at the scene.
He left behind three young children and his wife. He has been commended as a hero and his efforts recognised internationally.
Unfortunately, as a result of his passing, his family have been left financially unsecure. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise funds to provide financial relief to the family – but will this be enough?
Life can throw the unexpected at all of us when we least expect it. That is why it is important to ensure that your family is protected should an unforeseen tragedy occur, like the one mentioned above. Having a life insurance policy in place provides peace of mind and reassurance in knowing that if the worst was to happen, your family would be okay.
The insurance industry has come a long way to ensure life insurance is both accessible and affordable. With an increase in the cost of living, life expectancy and debt levels, life insurance is imperative to any sound financial plan.
